I can’t believe it’s almost a year since the last blog post! The big news is that the book is now finished! It’s been typeset, the proofs checked and the index compiled. The estimated publication date is now February 2021 – details of launch events will be posted here nearer the time. This is the culmination of nearly five years of work by a large number of people and we are all very much looking forward to seeing the book in print. As well as a translation of Kriegsgefangen in Skipton the book includes an introductory chapter containing research on the camp and the prisoners, as well as an appendix containing a list of the POWs who were imprisoned in the Skipton camp during the First World War.

We are delighted to now have a Laidlaw scholar, Harriet Purbrick, attached to the project. Harriet has been researching some of the Skipton prisoners and making contact with their descendants. She will be writing about her discoveries in the next blog post very soon!
