On 28th June 1917

Grenadier Paul Liebchen was captured at Avion on 28 June 1917. He had a gunshot wound to his left thigh that was described as slight. He was a member of the 5th Garde-Grenadier-Regiment. Avion itself lies in Northern France and was captured between 26th and 29th June 1917 during the Battle of Arras. Liebchen was 20 years old and had been born and bred in Jarocin. Jarocin is now part of Poland (German name: Jarotschin). He was originally admitted to Lewisham Hospital but was transferred to Brocton War hospital in Staffordshire in mid- July 1917. He was moved to Skipton camp in May 1919.
